Building a Forest
We are aware that there is a universe. We are aware that there is our planetary system among many others. We are aware that there is a sun in our solar system which fuels our energy needs on earth.
But after around 1 billion years, due to the sun's excess energy Earth's position won't be in a habitable zone. As per scientists, Mar's position would be in a habitable zone.
Practically I think Elon Musk is on the right path to explore mars and build a settlement there.
But to sustain the quality of life on earth, so that we can enjoy life and also see the future of space travel, we will have to build forests and respect nature.
Just to revise the effects of deforestation which are climate change, destruction of biodiversity, soil erosion, floods, decrease in the capacity of soil to hold water, etc.
So do we want to live on a planet that has a cool climate, forests, plants, animals, freshwater rivers, glaciers, etc is up to us?
The question should not be why to build a forest, but how to build a forest.
The first requirement to build the forest would be the availability of land.
For this, I think we can take the help of mapping and satellite technology. With the help of mapping, we can find deforested areas.
Other available lands are agricultural lands where agroforestry can be practiced.
We can also grow trees in our backyards and premises.
The next step would be to find people who can grow forests.
There are many government organizations, NGOs, and service providers with whom you can collaborate or take services to grow forests. Or you can yourself plant trees by learning the method.
One of the best methods to grow a forest quickly is the Akira Miyawaki method, who has received the Blue Planet Prize.
In the process of growing forests or trees, we should try to grow native trees. Growing native forest helps in establishing an original ecosystem.
We are a country of more than 1 billion people.
If we decide to grow 1 tree each, what immense positive change it would bring to our environment.
