Buddha Teachings

Image
Buddhism is one of the oldest religions in the world which was started by Buddha almost 2500 years ago. There are three branches of Buddhism which are Mahayana, Theravada, and Vajrayana. Though some people follow Buddhism as a religion and some as a way of life, the ultimate goal is to lead a virtuous life by self-discipline by following the teachings of Buddha.  In Buddhism, it is believed that everything has a changing nature which is essential for growth. As per Buddhism, the world is constantly being created millions of times every second and it will always continue to do so. Buddhism is accepting of modern science and technology. It is said that Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal around 2500 years ago (which is declared a UNESCO World Heritage site). At the age of 29, he renounced the world and become a recluse. He went out on a quest to find liberation from suffering.   He studied under different teachers and finally at the of 35 years he meditated under a Bodhi tree, in the to

Soil Rejuvenation

Image
Soil is one of the most important parts of our ecosystem. If there wouldn't be any soil, there wouldn't be many life forms on Earth.  Soil, plants, animals, and other organisms are all interconnected for each other's health. Healthy soil is only possible if there is a healthy ecosystem.  Healthy soil is composed of weathered rock, organic matter, water, air, and organisms.  Organic material though makes only a 5 to 10 percent fraction of soil but is an important part of healthy soil. Organic matter is decomposed remains of plants, trees, and organisms in the soil.   Organic matter binds the soil into porous particles, which helps in the movement of water and air in the soil. It helps in absorbing and storing water and nutrients in the soil. It is the food source for various microorganisms in the soil. It also  In the process of organic matter decomposition, the soil microorganisms break down the organic matter into humus and various nutrients. The humus helps in retaining w

Is CAA Act Unethical or Logical ?

Image
Every individual understands the world as per their perception. They deduce their way of life through the knowledge they gain. Every individual has the right to live their life in their way.  Everyone must have heard of people debating whether CAA Act 2019 is ethical or not.  I would say the act is logical rather than unethical. Though India has around 11% percentage of Muslims in the world, India has never been the preferred refugee destination for Muslim refugees. Their much-preferred destination is Western or European countries.  Though most of these Muslim refugees are from Muslim countries, it's not that they are running away from Islam but they are in search of development or more rights. We don't hear of any Muslim refugees coming from the rich Muslim States unless there is an issue of rights.  India has not signed the United Nations Refugee Convention because India's borders are porous in South Asia. Frequent movement of people would cause strain on its infrastructu

The Unfortunate Souls

Image
Prostitution is legal in India but a number of related activities including soliciting, kerb crawling, owning or managing a brothel, prostitution in hotels, child prostitution, pimping, and pandering are illegal.  For many years now people are debating whether to make prostitution legal or not. People who want to make prostitution legal have a point of view that it would stop human trafficking and would help to prevent diseases like HIV and AIDS. But I am against making prostitution legal even if a person is willfully involved in such activities. As Ms. Thompson says in her research article "I n the 11 years I've been there, I've never met one woman who has chosen to be there. Every woman I've met has been trafficked or born there."   Research shows that people join the sex trade due to weak financial conditions or have been forcefully trafficked or are born in such conditions. And another thing how would anybody guarantee that trafficking and child prostitution w

That Stranger (Rose)

Image
You will always be that stranger A strange affection I had I thought it was more The stranger thought otherwise   The little time we spent I spent it with doubt Was it really real The stranger thought otherwise   Everything has faded As it was a pretend But my singing is for real As real it can be  And it was a crush For that I am sure of Like a crush of a butterfly on rose

Awareness of Gender Identity Disorder

Image
Gender Identity Disorder is not a mental illness or a stigma, if addressed properly, many like me can live a healthy and normal life. Gender Identity Disorder is a condition in which a person has been assigned one gender (usually at birth) but identifies as belonging to another gender. Gender Identity Disorder occurs during childhood or in some cases during adulthood. Nowadays people have become conscious of healthy living whether it be diet or mental health. So I thought it would be the right time to spread awareness about gender identity disorder.  If people suffering from gender identity disorder are not given proper medical care, the distress causes various mental disorders like depression, anxiety, substance abuse, self-harm, social isolation, eating disorders, and schizophrenia. There is a misunderstanding that people with gender identity disorder are always gay. They can be attracted to any sex. There is still a social stigma attached to it, wherein families don't accept the

Where are the Gorkha's?

Image
Gorkha's are proud to serve the nation by joining the Indian Armed Forces and providing security in different organizations in the world. But is this the only role by which we can serve the nation and the world? Is this the only identity that we can have? This perception needs to be changed. Though there are many Gorkha personalities in different fields, it is too less. For the Gorkha community to develop we need to enter every field and excel and become leaders. We have some young personalities like Mr.  Sunil Chhetri and Mr.  Anirudh Thapa in Football, Mr.  Shiva Thapa in Boxing, Mr.  Bharat Chettri in Hockey, Mr.  Tarundeep Rai in Archery, Mr.  Jitu Rai in Shooting, Miss Geetanjali Thapa in Acting and Miss Rewati Chetri in Modelling.  But it is an inadequate representation in a vast number of sectors in India and the world. I don't feel this inadequate representation is because of any bias against the Gorkha community, but because of disinterest shown by the communi
