Is CAA Act Unethical or Logical ?

Image
Every individual understands the world as per their perception. They deduce their way of life through the knowledge they gain. Every individual has the right to live their life in their way.  Everyone must have heard of people debating whether CAA Act 2019 is ethical or not.  I would say the act is logical rather than unethical. Though India has around 11% percentage of Muslims in the world, India has never been the preferred refugee destination for Muslim refugees. Their much-preferred destination is Western or European countries.  Though most of these Muslim refugees are from Muslim countries, it's not that they are running away from Islam but they are in search of development or more rights. We don't hear of any Muslim refugees coming from the rich Muslim States unless there is an issue of rights.  India has not signed the United Nations Refugee Convention because India's borders are porous in South Asia. Frequent movement of people would cause strain on its infra...

The Unfortunate Souls

Image
Prostitution is legal in India but a number of related activities including soliciting, kerb crawling, owning or managing a brothel, prostitution in hotels, child prostitution, pimping, and pandering are illegal.  For many years now people are debating whether to make prostitution legal or not. People who want to make prostitution legal have a point of view that it would stop human trafficking and would help to prevent diseases like HIV and AIDS. But I am against making prostitution legal even if a person is willfully involved in such activities. As Ms. Thompson says in her research article "I n the 11 years I've been there, I've never met one woman who has chosen to be there. Every woman I've met has been trafficked or born there."   Research shows that people join the sex trade due to weak financial conditions or have been forcefully trafficked or are born in such conditions. And another thing how would anybody guarantee that trafficking and child prostitution w...

That Stranger (Rose)

Image
You will always be that stranger A strange affection I had I thought it was more The stranger thought otherwise   The little time we spent I spent it with doubt Was it really real The stranger thought otherwise   Everything has faded As it was a pretend But my singing is for real As real it can be  And it was a crush For that I am sure of Like a crush of a butterfly on rose

Awareness of Gender Identity Disorder

Image
Gender Identity Disorder is not a mental illness or a stigma, if addressed properly, many like me can live a healthy and normal life. Gender Identity Disorder is a condition in which a person has been assigned one gender (usually at birth) but identifies as belonging to another gender. Gender Identity Disorder occurs during childhood or in some cases during adulthood. Nowadays people have become conscious of healthy living whether it be diet or mental health. So I thought it would be the right time to spread awareness about gender identity disorder.  If people suffering from gender identity disorder are not given proper medical care, the distress causes various mental disorders like depression, anxiety, substance abuse, self-harm, social isolation, eating disorders, and schizophrenia. There is a misunderstanding that people with gender identity disorder are always gay. They can be attracted to any sex. There is still a social stigma attached to it, wherein families don't accept the...

Where are the Gorkha's?

Image
Gorkha's are proud to serve the nation by joining the Indian Armed Forces and providing security in different organizations in the world. But is this the only role by which we can serve the nation and the world? Is this the only identity that we can have? This perception needs to be changed. Though there are many Gorkha personalities in different fields, it is too less. For the Gorkha community to develop we need to enter every field and excel and become leaders. We have some young personalities like Mr.  Sunil Chhetri and Mr.  Anirudh Thapa in Football, Mr.  Shiva Thapa in Boxing, Mr.  Bharat Chettri in Hockey, Mr.  Tarundeep Rai in Archery, Mr.  Jitu Rai in Shooting, Miss Geetanjali Thapa in Acting and Miss Rewati Chetri in Modelling.  But it is an inadequate representation in a vast number of sectors in India and the world. I don't feel this inadequate representation is because of any bias against the Gorkha community, but because of disint...

The Dilemma of an Aspiring Indian

Image
In schools and colleges, you are taught to follow your dreams rather than money. But often following your dreams doesn't make you enough money to take care of the bare necessities of life. Or many times following your dream cost a lot which many can't afford. And also how does a child cope when their aptitude does not match a particular ambition. The real world doesn't work that way. Making money comes first rather than following your dreams. So what I have deduced from this is that children should be educated about the importance of money from their childhood. There should be separate lessons on teaching the uses of money, saving, and investment of money so they can become financially independent. Sites like National institute of securities market , National stock exchange , Bombay stock exchange institute  provide courses in investing. Students who cannot afford higher studies should join distance learning courses which are much cheaper than regular courses.  That way the...

Building a Forest

Image
We are aware that there is a universe. We are aware that there is our planetary system among many others. We are aware that there is a sun in our solar system which fuels our energy needs on earth. But after around 1 billion years, due to the sun's excess energy Earth's position won't be in a habitable zone. As per scientists, Mar's position would be in a habitable zone. Practically I think Elon Musk is on the right path to explore mars and build a settlement there.  But to sustain the quality of life on earth, so that we can enjoy life and also see the future of space travel, we will have to build forests and respect nature.  Just to revise the effects of deforestation which are climate change, destruction of biodiversity, soil erosion, floods, decrease in the capacity of soil to hold water, etc. So do we want to live on a planet that has a cool climate, forests, plants, animals, freshwater rivers, glaciers, etc is up to us? The question should not be why to build a fo...
